Comb
- antlers or bone (?)
- found: Gellen/Hiddensee
- circa 9th/10th century
- length: approx. 20 cm
Only the handle plate of the single-row, three-layer comb is preserved. This plate is adorned with several groups of circular eyes. The saw marks on the handle plate show that there once a finer-toothed comb section of the same length also fitted to the central plate. But all of the teeth are reconstructed. The handle plates and the central plate were once riveted together, and the central plate carrying the teeth consisted of several individual parts.
