Drill core
- height: 7 m
The drill core in the “House of Collections” of the Müritzeum gives us a special insight into the history of the Earth. The true to scale geological profile shows parts of the drill core as evidence for the different stratigraphic sequence of the layered earth and fossils as contemporary witnesses of the former animal and plant world. The geological exploration of the substrate, which was performed in 1983 on the outskirts of Waren, aimed to find a suitable location for supporting geothermal energy. The drilling went down as far as 1.5 km where it reached 250 million old layers from the Triassic.
