Idol of the gods
- bronze
- 11th to 12th century
- Gatschow (district of North Western Pomerania)
- height: 6.5 cm
The small crouching figure with bent knees has its right arm towards its head and is holding its beard with its hand. The almond-shaped eyes are strongly emphasised. The bronze figure is similar to other northern European figures of gods with the probably divine gesture of touching the beard. The rivet hole on the socket suggests that the figure was fitted to a stick or rod.
