By the mid-1980s agricultural businesses, including their service companies, had developed into highly specialised economic systems that could hardly be overlooked. The LPG plant production in Dorf Mecklenburg covered, for example with more than 8,500 hectares of useful area, almost ¼ of the area of Wismar-Land. The map of this business from 1988 is on a scale of 1:25.000 and exemplifies this dimension. The map shows not only the fields and their sizes but also underground piping systems with a length of around 88 km for artificial irrigation with clear water and slurry.
