The “Directive on Land Reform in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania” from 5th September 1945 marked the start of a complete restructuring of agriculture in the Soviet occupation zone. As current land register documents were often missing, measurements of land and plots were taken using simple tools. These included wooden plot measurement dividers with a common span width of 2 metres. The exhibit shown here spanned the historical measurement unit of a half “Mecklenburg Rute” – 2.29 metres.
