Oval brooch

- Flessenow
- 2nd half of 10th to early 12th century
- length: 5 cm
Brooches are both garment closures and items of jewellery. They also provide information about the social status of the person wearing them. The exhibit is further proof of the royal status of Burg Dobin on the northern edge of Lake Schwerin. The fine silver work on the setting and smoothed mountain crystal are evidence of a high degree of technical ability. It is probably an import from Scandinavia.
