Ritual cart from Peckatel
- bronze
- from an Early Bronze Age burial mound
- 1300 to 1100 B.C.
- height: 38 cm
The cart is a very nice and exceptionally well made object from the Nordic Early Bronze Age. It is mentioned in literature as the “golden cart from Peckatel” due to the polished bronze and the place where it was found. Such small carts in the shape of a cauldron on wheels were used for sacred acts, which are not known about in more detail. As it was found as a burial object, it is likely to have been part of a priest’s grave. It was probably produced in Bohemia.
