After taking over the parental business in 1932 Walter Kramer, the Ribnitz goldsmith, developed the “Fischland ornaments”, a pleasant combination of maritime shapes made from silver and amber. His designs quickly became very popular. In 1947 the company employed around 80 people and manufactured the products in factories. Walter Kramer was ousted from Ribnitz. He went to Lübeck and built a new company in Travemünde.
His “Fischland” ornaments were then produced from 1948 by a nationally-owned enterprise in Ribnitz. For legal reasons the ornaments manufactured in Ribnitz were later sold under the name “Ostseeschmuck.”
