The spheroid skillet from the Middle Ages originally stood on three short, sturdy legs with a triangular cross-section. Two of them remain preserved. A pair of small, slightly opposing handles are located on the slightly curved edge. They were used to attach a large, semicircular and curved handle. Bracket handles like this were usually made of iron. The holes in the sides were caused by later damage.
The skillet is manufactured in a clay mould. This is evident in the vertical casting seam. It confirms that a 'lost mould' was used, which had to be smashed to retrieve the workpiece once the casting and cooling process was complete.
