Timetable for the ten-class general educational polytechnic secondary school
- 1959
As “teaching” (UTP) or an “introduction to socialist production” (ESP), “socially useful” work was to be learnt and performed in nationally-owned enterprises (VEBs), nationally-owned properties (VEGs) and agricultural production cooperatives (LPGs). The teaching plan prescribed: “A particularly close connection between school and life and between theory and practice is achieved through the realisation of polytechnic education and schooling. Polytechnic education and schooling is realised through manual training, on lesson days in socialist production, …and in the introduction to socialist production, technical drawings in mathematics and natural sciences, and through the meaningful connection of all other subjects with socialist production.”
