Trophy owned by the Rostock Bakers Guild
- Rostock
- 1593
- partially gilded silver
- height: 45 cm
The Bakers Guild enjoys almost unrivalled success in the late Hanse period in Rostock. Fittingly, the numerous members of the association treat themselves to an ornate trophy in which their desire to represent their profession is matched only by their self-ascribed importance (Guilds).
The early Baroque style reveals the intricate hand of a goldsmith on the sides, as well as a delicately fashioned base. Some of the relief portraits have grotesque features.
